Summerlight

What is this and what is that?  What are you and what am I? These questions consume considerable psychic energy in our thoughts, feelings and actions. Of course. How could it be otherwise?

What else is there?

Nothing …apparently.

Nothing is the unstable shadow of pure possibility.

Nothing manifests when routines and patterns of time, place or person change, fracture or dissolve.

Abject-awesome, terrible-marvelous, disastrous-miraculous … only words with contradictory meanings reach out to … touch it?

This care-less emptiness plays quantum leaps at the center of every cell … Dionysian for sure! Ecstatic disaster, the fountain of all joy and terror!

No wonder we avoid its unceasing summons – until it beckons or intrudes upon us – seducing or terrifying us if we’re not awake.

In the spaces between this and that, you and me, possibilities between us are redefined; redefined in a void where life and death hold no distinction. A passageway opens for a re-naissance of possibilities within and between oneself with the other.

Allow it

is faith.

Experience it

is hope.

Meet each other within it

is love. Transforming our what into who.

The illusion of control disallows this nothing; a dissociated splitting that clings to what and thrives on hoarded illusions. Illusions that resource all abuse of power.

***

Gargoyle

at the gate to love

death stands guard

don’t be fooled

since it comes at the end

it sleeps

at the center

of love’s first breath.
